Orthofix names new head of spine business unit
Orthofix has announced that Brian McCollum will be taking on the role of president of its spine global business unit as part of a management reshuffle.
Mr McCollum is taking over the position from Bryan McMillan – who has resigned from the company due to family reasons – and will be vacating his current post of chief financial officer (CFO) on November 10th 2012.
He has been with the company for 11 years and has served in a variety of operational and financial executive roles, most recently taking the lead in managing the firm's operating margin improvements and the divestiture of its sports medicine business.
This sale was completed in May 2012 and has served to significantly deleverage the company.
Mr McCollum's appointment coincides with the selection of Emily Buxton as interim CFO from November 11th while Orthofix searches for a permanent successor.
Company president and chief executive officer Robert Vaters said: "Brian's operational and financial experience along with our increased financial flexibility will allow us to take the spine global business unit to the next level."
