Oxford Immunotec’s T-SPOT.PRT test receives CE Mark approval

31st December 2015

Oxford Immunotec has received European CE Mark approval for its new T-SPOT.PRT test, which is designed for use in measuring alloreactivity.

The panel of reactive T cells (PRT) test assesses a solid organ transplant candidate's T-cell response to foreign tissue and can aid understanding of the likelihood of a rejection event following a transplant – an important factor in patient management.

It works by measuring a transplant candidate's T-cell mediated response to cells representing the potential donor population, and is is the second in a series of planned new products intended to help transplant patients and physicians manage immune-regulated conditions.

The CE-marked kit will be offered as a testing service from the company's laboratory in the UK.

Dr Peter Wrighton-Smith, chief executive officer of Oxford Immunotec, said: "While we are enthusiastic about the potential clinical utility and economic value that the T-SPOT.PRT test may provide in transplant medicine, we are taking a measured approach to market introduction as we await the results of our PROTECT clinical trial."

Oxford Immunotec is a global commercial-stage diagnostics company. It previously introduced the T-SPOT.TB test, which is used to test for tuberculosis infection in more than 50 countries.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801809166-ADNFCR
