Oxoid and Remel have introduced a complete portfolio of culture media for the microbiological examiniation of non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
The fully-validated portfolio is recommended in the Harmonised Microbial Limit Tests chapters in the US, European and Japanese Pharmacopeia.
It includes dehydrated culture and prepared media for both microbial enumeration and specific micro-organism testing.
María Higgins, pharmaceutical applications manager of Oxoid, said thorough quality assurance and control systems ensure the media meets specifications and regulatory standards required by pharmaceutical microbiologists.
"Our carefully sourced raw materials are fully traceable. Quality control is performed quantitatively and qualitatively, using the recommended strains and incubation/temperature parameters outlined in harmonised MLT chapters [worldwide]," he added.
The media is produced in specialised facilities in the UK, Germany, USA, Canada and Australia.
Oxoid recently held its Food Safety Team for the Year award in conjunction with International Food Hygiene and the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.
The organisation claims to be one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of microbiological culture media and other diagnostic products.
