Paragon Rapid Technologies has finished developing five-thousand 3D printed face shields for the NHS

Paragon Rapid Technologies (PRT) has finished developing five-thousand 3D printed face shields, with assistance from Carbon, RPS, and DSM, for the NHS in the North East. The team has been developing the PPE since March 24 and will now distribute them to the hospitals.

Paragon’s managing director, Neil Cook, stated: “I am so proud of our team. They have worked around the clock, across shifts they wouldn’t ordinarily have worked and foregone holidays and weekends to get these vital PPE face shields completed and shipped. We printed one-thousand and five-hundred headpieces using our Carbon M2 Digital Light Synthesis printers. The remainder of the order was printed on our three large bed NEO800 stereolithography (SLA) printers with additional support from RPS. RPS are the creators of the NEO800 and they brought their own machines into the process. We are extremely grateful and humbled by their efforts to help. We are also grateful to Royal DSM, creators of the durable, multi-purpose SOMOS resins we run on these large bed machines. DSM donated forty kilograms of resin for use in the creation of the shield headpieces.”
