Parexel Consulting hires former FDA expert

Parexel Consulting has announced the appointment of a leading healthcare regulatory expert to its strategic compliance services team.

The global consultancy, a business unit of Parexel International, has hired Edwin Rivera-Martinez, former chief of the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) international compliance branch, as its technical vice-president.

Mr Rivera-Martinez served at the FDA for more than 33 years and played a key role in overseeing the application process for new drugs and biologic treatments.

In his new position at Parexel, he will report directly to strategic compliance services practice lead David Chesney and will assist the company in providing guidance to clients on the complexities of the regulatory environment.

Mr Chesney said: "He brings a level of technical and regulatory knowledge that we expect will significantly contribute to the support of our clients' development programmes and help to guide successful pathways for their innovative products."

Earlier this year, Parexel Consulting also appointed former Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency expert Dr Keith Watson as a principal consultant.
