Parexel drug trial duo out of hospital

29th March 2006

Two of the men that were taken seriously ill following their participation in a drug trial have been allowed to return home.

The duo were the first to make a significant recovery after being given TGN 1412 in a trial, which took place at Northwick Park Hospital.

Meanwhile, one patient remains in a critical condition, but continues to make “good improvement”, while the other three are also continuing to make good progress.

Doctors at Northwick Park Hospital have said that the men who have been released will regularly visit the centre to have tests and check-ups as out patients.

“Our clients are pleased to be recovering but are very anxious about their futures at this time,” said Martyn Day, a solicitor representing four of the men.

TeGenero, the German drugmaker responsible for developing the drug, is still conducting an investigation into what caused the men taking part in the trial to become seriously ill.
