Pentax Medical launches Scopepilot Navigation Control Unit in Europe
Pentax Medical has announced the European launch of its new Scopepilot Navigation Control Unit, its latest 3D colonoscopy solution.
The unit provides a true 3D representation of an endoscope's position inside a patient's bowel tract, facilitating accurate insertion tracking and effective colonic loop management to support quality standards in colonoscopy and training.
It also provides advanced orientation features, including image rotation on both horizontal and vertical axes to improve differentiation of the insertion tube, as well as zoom functionality for improved evaluation and detection of looping.
The product was developed in partnership with clinicians and is being showcased to medical professionals at the British Society of Gastroenterology 2016 annual meeting in Liverpool this week.
Rainer Burkard, European president for Pentax Medical, said: "Our colonoscopes have been found by clinicians to provide excellent tactile feedback, which when used with Scopepilot ensures a high degree of control, particularly when negotiating difficult loops during a colonoscopy."
This comes after the firm recently previewed Defina, an advanced high-definition imaging platform for enhanced ENT diagnosis and therapy.
