PerkinElmer announces Indian subsidiary
PerkinElmer has revealed it has acquired PerkinElmer India as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Through the transaction, the health sciences and photonics developer states that it is reinforcing its commitment to customers in the region.
Some 170 people are currently employed by PerkinElmer India in locations throughout the country.
Gregory Summe, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, claims that "customers in the region will benefit from an increased level of applications and technical support".
"A stronger India presence will enable us to react faster to changing needs and develop new solutions specifically for the market," he adds.
The firm claims that the acquisition will allow it to target India’s analytical instrumentation and life science markets.
Mr Summe continues that the sector is "rapidly expanding" in the country and welcomes the addition of a direct operation for PerkinElmer in the region.
PerkinElmer this week exhibited its range of optoelectronics solutions at the Laser 2007 conference in Munich, Germany.
