PerkinElmer business to participate in Aetna network

PerkinElmer firm NTD Laboratories is now part of the Aetna network of health plans, which will incorporate the firm’s Down’s Syndrome free-beta hCG screening facility.

Its genetic screening operation is focused on healthy pregnancies, babies and families and provides clinical lab testing services and systems to assess health risks and preserve newborn cord blood stem cells.

This helps to contribute towards treatment options that are potentially life-saving.

Dr John Sherwin, director of laboratory operations at NTD Labs, commented: "PerkinElmer’s agreement with Aetna greatly expands coverage for this screening protocol on a national level, providing women and their physicians with a reliable screening option validated by 18 clinical trials involving over 194,000 patients."

Other news from PerkinElmer over the last week is that the firm has launched its new Differential Scanning Calorimetry-Raman spectroscopy hyphenated system, which combines the strengths of thermal analysis with Raman spectroscopy.
