PerkinElmer expands Californian digital imaging facility

26th September 2007

PerkinElmer yesterday announced the expansion of its Santa Clara digital imaging fabrication facility.

The facility produces amorphous silicon digital x-ray detector panels for use in radiation oncology, angiography, radiography and cardiovascular imaging, the company asserts.

Due to the expansion, PerkinElmer will hire some 60 members of staff – to be based at the Santa Clara site – during the 2008 calendar year, it asserts.

Chairman and chief executive of PerkinElmer Gregory L Summe commented that the expansion of the facility represented the commitment of the company to ensuring that it is well-positioned to take advantage of the expanding digital imaging market.

President of PerkinElmer Optoelectronics John A Roush asserted: "Santa Clara has been an ideal location for employing the talent needed for this critical business and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the local community."

It was recently announced by the company that it will be present at the UBS 2007 Global Life Sciences Conference.
