PerkinElmer extends laboratory services deal with Minerva Scientific

PerkinElmer has agreed to extend its contract with Derbyshire-based Minerva Scientific, allowing the latter company to continue taking advantage of PerkinElmer's OneSource Laboratory Services.

The service, which PerkinElmer has been providing to Minerva Scientific since 2003, offers an integrated suite of multi-vendor laboratory solutions to help maximise instrument uptime.

It encompasses maintenance, qualification, calibration and relocation of a wide variety of different laboratory assets, including the mass spectrometry systems which are crucial to Minerva Scientific's business.

Ian Brown, technical director at Minerva Scientific UK, said the company relies on OneSource to provide the specialist skills necessary for servicing its equipment.

PerkinElmer's European service leader Hansueli Goeldi added that OneSource "has allowed Minerva Scientific to control costs and improve productivity through consolidation of equipment maintenance and qualification through one supplier".

Last week, PerkinElmer announced that it is to sell off its illumination and detection solutions business unit, a move which will allow it to increase its focus on the healthcare sector.
