PerkinElmer hails strong second-quarter performance

8th August 2011

PerkinElmer has highlighted its strong growth performance in its financial report for the second quarter of 2011.

The life sciences company was able to generate a revenue total of $479 million (292.9 million pounds), representing a year-on-year increase of 14 percent, or six percent in organic terms.

Double-digit growth was achieved across both its human and environmental health divisions, while positive trends were also noted in terms of adjusted earnings per share.

Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, also noted that the business has been able to make a number of strategically important acquisitions in the last quarter.

These include electronic laboratory notebook specialist Labtronics, software provider Geospiza and X-ray detector technology creator Dexela Limited.

"In the first half of 2011, we have made significant progress toward our strategic initiative of increasing the growth profile of the company," said Mr Friel.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800692832-ADNFCR
