PerkinElmer highlights ‘excellent’ fourth quarter performance in 2011
PerkinElmer has published its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2011, expressing satisfaction with its strong double-digit growth.
The life science company's revenue total for the three-month period came to $540.2 million (342.36 million pounds), up by 15 percent year over year, with both its human health and environmental health divisions seeing pronounced increases.
During the period, the company completed its takeover of Caliper Life Sciences, a move that will underpin its future growth and rounds off a successful year of strategic acquisitions.
PerkinElmer now expects to experience an organic revenue increase in the mid-single digit range relative to 2011 over the coming year.
Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, said: "Our excellent fourth quarter financial results complete a terrific year for PerkinElmer, with strong growth in revenue, adjusted earnings per share and cash flow."
This week, the company also announced that Atlas Venture partner Peter Barrett has been appointed to its board of directors, ahead of the imminent retirement of one of its current members.
