PerkinElmer unveils EcoAnalytix initiative to address ‘global need’

25th October 2007

PerkinElmer has unveiled a "revolutionary" initiative to address the global need for food safety, water quality and biofuels development.

EcoAnalytix is intended to help laboratories worldwide ensure that food and water supplies are contaminant-free and that the prospect of "cost-effective, high quality biofuels" can be realised.

"PerkinElmer’s new EcoAnalytix initiative is designed to help laboratories meet these goals by combining high-performance instrumentation with an unprecedented level of technical, application and regulatory support," commented Dr Richard Begley, the president of PerkinElmer Analytical Sciences.

A global technology leader in health sciences, PerkinElmer aims to help laboratories stay at the "leading edge" of new developments and regulatory requirements by initiating "innovative thought leadership" and public outreach programmes to bring insights from top scientists and government agencies directly to its customers.

Specific applications of the firm’s EcoAnalytix food safety platforms include the analysis of food stuffs for melamine, pesticide, organic, chemical and metal contaminants, while the water quality platforms will provide specific analysers and methodologies to detect trace metal, organic, pesticide, chemical and radioactive contaminants in water.

PerkinElmer also announced the establishment of four global application development centres, including one in the UK, to focus on the development of new applications and methods for specific EcoAnalytix platforms.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18330063-ADNFCR
