PerkinElmer unveils exclusive partnership

PerkinElmer has announced it will become the exclusive distributor of a new blood collection solution.

The firm revealed this week it had entered into a partnership with ID Biological Systems to act as the global resource for its range of specimen collection cards.

Used by hospitals and physicians involved with the screening of newborn babies, the cards are used to allow dried blood spots to be collected and transported for laboratory testing.

PerkinElmer’s involvement will assure the "consistent, high-quality supply" of the cards, which it adds will be tailored to the specific requirements of the labs in which they will be used.

Ann-Christine Sundell, president of the firm’s genetic screening department, said: "This agreement expands our offering with a high-quality product, and provides IDB Systems with a strong and proven distribution channel for its product."

PerkinElmer recently showcased its latest innovations at the Society for Biomolecular Sciences Conference.
