Peterson Health Technology Institue & Icer Collaborate to Extend Reach to Digital
A new approach for evaluating the worth of digital health innovations is being developed by Peterson which recently disclosed a launch agreement with the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review.
Through self-sufficient, publicly accessible, data-based evaluations, PHTI seeks to close the knowledge gap over the way technological innovations function and what price they should be.
Selecting assessment procedures and publicising outcomes will be a lengthy process. This alliance represents a departure from the “wild wild west” of electronic medical innovations. Similar to ICER’S existing treatment evaluation methods, It is anticipated there will be several challenges along the way, with stakeholders potentially stirring tension by displaying opposing views and discontent
Questions already raised include
Is the device made specifically for those who intend to utilise it?
Do individuals have adequate medical knowledge to use the device accurately
Will they include or generate bias beliefs and assumptions that could harm treatment and results?
