Pfizer agrees takeover of Ferrosan’s consumer health business
Pfizer has signed a deal to take control of the consumer health business of Ferrosan, a European healthcare company.
Under the terms of the transaction, Pfizer will acquire the rights to a large portfolio of products – including Multi-tabs multivitamins, the probiotic Bifiform and the Imedeen oral skincare range – from current owner Altor 2003 Fund GP Limited.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions but is expected to be completed during the second quarter of the current fiscal year.
Pfizer states that the deal will allow it to expand the market reach of Ferrosan's brands, as well as provide it with better access to customer bases in Ferrosan's main regions.
Paul Sturman, president of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, said: "Ferrosan is an excellent strategic fit that strengthens our presence in dietary supplements with a new set of compelling brands and product pipeline."
Earlier this month, Pfizer published its financial report for 2010, a year which saw the company expand in scope and earning power as a result of the integration of Wyeth.
