Pfizer Animal Health partners with Easter Bush Research Consortium

11th November 2010

Pfizer Animal Health has established a new collaboration with the Easter Bush Research Consortium, which will cover a broad range of animal health and welfare topics.

The veterinary medicines manufacturer is allying with the consortium, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, in order to promote early stage research and multidisciplinary alliances, as well as advancing education standards in the field.

A total of $2 million (1.2 million pounds) will be allocated to funding the collaboration over the next five years, with projects set to cover a variety of treatments across all major livestock and domestic animal species.

Dr Albert Bourla, Pfizer Animal Health's area president for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, said the alliance will bring together many of the industry's top research leaders.

He added: "The future of animal health and welfare lies in multidisciplinary collaboration with external partners who share the same vision."

Last month, Pfizer announced that it will be merging with King Pharmaceuticals, a deal which will see it expand its animal health business with the acquisition of Alpharma.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800230859-ADNFCR
