Pfizer appoints Elizabeth Barrett to its oncology business unit

24th March 2009

Pfizer has announced Elizabeth Barrett will be its regional president of its oncology business unit.

The pharmaceutical company asserted their latest recruit has “extensive global expertise” in the area and she will be responsible for sales, marketing and field operations.

Previously, Ms Barrett was vice-president and general manager for Cephalon’s oncology business unit where she developed the short and long-term plans to build this department of the business.

She has also managed Johnson & Johnson’s cancer therapeutics department, overseeing its new business development, licensing and acquisitions.

Gary Nicholson, general manager of Pfizer’s oncology business unit, remarked Ms Barrett’s knowledge and skills should help the company deal with the challenges and opportunities it faces to become a leader in the field.

“It is important that we have the right leaders in place to ensure that we can deliver superior total value not only internally within the company, but to the physicians and patients that we serve,” he commented.

Last week, Pfizer announced it was going to invest further into the Together Rx Access prescription saving programme that it part-sponsors.
