Pfizer names new chief scientific officer for neuroscience research

Pfizer has announced the appointment of Dr Ole Isacson as a senior vice-president and chief scientific officer of its neuroscience research unit, effective as of September 16th.

Dr Isacson is a renowned scientist and thought leader in the field of neurology, currently serving as a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, where he will continue to serve in an educational role following this appointment.

He is also a founding director of the Neuroregeneration Institute at McLean Hospital, with his lab becoming one of the most recognised academic research centres for Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders over the last two decades.

Mikael Dolsten, president of worldwide research and development at Pfizer, said: "His strong ties in the local academic community will be important as our Cambridge site continues to drive collaborations with leading scientific and academic institutions that can help us speed the pace of discovery."

The company's worldwide research and development hub in Cambridge, Massachusetts was recently strengthened with the appointments of Dr Greg LaRosa as chief scientific officer of rare disease research and Dr Michael Vincent as chief scientific officer of inflammation and immunology research.
