Pfizer set to invite public to webcast

Pfizer has invited members of public and investors to view and listen to a webcast of a presentation.

Made by Jeff Kindler, chairman and chief executive, the online cast will be made at the 2008 Credit Suisse healthcare conference on Thursday November 13th.

Available on the company’s website, the webcast will also be archived.
The news comes following the company’s decision yesterday to terminate its phase three development for its investigational compound (CP-945,598).

Designed for weight management, the cancellation was based on new regulatory requirements for approval and changing regulatory perspectives on the risk/benefit profile of the CB1 class.

Earlier in October, Pfizer announced that its drug, Toviaz (fesoterodine fumarate) has received approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Used for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms, the FDA’s endorsement of Toviaz was based upon on two large 12-week phase three clinical studies of 1,964 OAB patients.

Pfizer has listings at the New York Stock Exchange, London, Euronext and Swiss, with pharmaceutical products including Chantix, Viagra, Celebrex, Norvasc and Chantix.

The company earned $48.4 billion (30.43 billion pounds) in revenues in 2007, with investment in research and development reaching $8.1 billion.
