Philips acquires Northern Irish TOMCAT Systems

Royal Philips Electronics has announced it is to acquire Northern Ireland’s TOMCAT Systems.

The dental health product supplier has not yet revealed the terms of this purchase but explained that the firm offers software which helps aggregate data relating to the cardiac care of patients.

Philips stated that the acquisition would enable the firm to expand its healthcare technology, adding that the deal should be completed by the second quarter of 2008.

Oran Muduroglu, general manager of the Healthcare Informatics business group within Philips Healthcare, commented that the move would help connect existing different Philips systems.

“Philips will now accelerate introduction of this integrated cardiology information solution in North America and in other selected markets,” he added.

Earlier this month, Philips and Ascent Profit inked a ?25 million contract which will see them deliver digital radiography systems to China this year.

Philips suggested this will strengthen its position within a rapidly-developing Chinese healthcare market.
