Philips announces acquisition of cloud technology firm VitalHealth

18th December 2017

Philips has announced the acquisition of VitalHealth, a leading Dutch provider of cloud-based population health management solutions for the delivery of personalised care.

The company offers products and services for the provision of care outside hospital settings, such as through regional care networks. These solutions are being used by more than 100 healthcare networks in countries including the US, India, China, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The company was founded in 2006 by the Mayo Clinic and Noaber Foundation and employs approximately 200 people. It is expected that the deal will complement Philips' population health management portfolio with new analytics, care coordination, patient engagement and outcome management solutions.

Specifically, the deal is intended to bolster the health informatics offering Philips was able to establish through the purchase of Wellcentive in 2016.

Carla Kriwet, chief business leader of Philips' connected care and health informatics businesses, said: "This strategic acquisition complements our current offering in population health management and supports our commitment to deliver integrated solutions for care providers and patients to improve people's health."
