Philips introduces AlluraClarity X-ray systems

Philips is highlighting the benefits of its new range of AlluraClarity interventional X-ray systems, which are able to dramatically reduce X-ray dosages while maintaining or improving image quality.

The AlluraClarity family is equipped with the manufacturer's new ClarityIQ technology, which allows X-ray doses to be slashed by 73 percent in neurological procedures, 50 percent in cardiac and 83 percent in vascular interventional operations.

This reduces the risk posed to patients and staff by radiation exposure and allows longer and more complex procedures to be performed more safely, without compromising on features such as image enhancement and edge sharpening.

Philips also confirmed that the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast has become the first institution in the UK to place an order for the AlluraClarity system.

Mike Hayden, sales director for imaging systems at Philips Healthcare, said: "The Philips AlluraClarity incorporates powerful imaging technology to bring superb image quality at a fraction of the dose, further proving Philips' commitment to reducing the need to make compromises in patient care."

Earlier this month, the company won praise from University Hospital Wales after the facility invested in four DigitalDiagnost Flex wireless systems for its radiology department.
