Philips introduces new OncoSuite platform in Europe
Philips is introducing its new interventional oncology platform OncoSuite at the 2016 Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) annual meeting.
The next-generation interventional oncology solution is designed to help physicians provide analysis and minimally-invasive targeted treatment of tumour lesions, allowing the impact on healthy tissue to be reduced.
OncoSuite also offers clinicians a better view of the treatment targets for informed decision-making while performing the procedure. It is the only platform that supports both tumour embolisation and ablation procedures, enabling multiple tumour lesions to be targeted simultaneously.
Though it can be used for a number of different cancers – including bone, kidney and lung – its specific tools have been optimised for the treatment of patients with liver cancer. It enables a complete coverage of the liver to visualise peripheral hepatic tumours.
Ronald Tabaksblat, business leader for image-guided therapy systems at Philips, said: "OncoSuite provides the first complete interventional oncology portfolio for interventional radiologists, enabling physicians to see the entire tumor and its feeder vessels to directly target treatment avoiding healthy tissue."
