Philips launches new Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected toothbrush

13th June 2016

Philips has announced the launch of an advanced new electric toothbrush that uses sensors to identify the areas of the mouth missed by the user's brushing routine.

The Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected brush is equipped with Smart Sensor technology and synchronises with the Philips Sonicare app via Bluetooth, allowing users to track brushing habits in real time.

It provides a personalised 3D mouth map to help coach consumers to improve their brushing technique over time, flagging up missed regions and instances where excessive pressure is being used, while offering tips on how to achieve better coverage.

A survey of US dental professionals showed that 98 percent would feel more confident in their patients looking after their mouth, teeth and gums between visits if they were using the Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected brush.

Marilyn Ward, oral healthcare global director of clinical dental scientific affairs at Philips, said: "New innovations like Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected means that advice and guidance shared with patients are now easier to implement, with coaching and real-time data supporting them as part of their daily routine."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801820132-ADNFCR
