Philips ‘pioneers wireless tracking’ for mobile imaging systems

Royal Philips Electronics has announced that it has developed an optimised tracking and repair solution to be used with mobile diagnostic imaging systems in order to improve overall efficiencies.

It notes that imaging systems are transported in custom-built 18-wheel mobile coaches, while routes may be subject to change, resulting in difficulties in locating missing units and making repairs.

The firm reports that it has introduced the use of Philips Remote Services for Mobiles to make this process simpler using a combination of global positioning system location technology, standard voice service and internet data connectivity.

Philips claims that the introduction of real-time visibility and traceability of mobile systems will facilitate the proactive monitoring of operations and efficient troubleshooting by healthcare organisations.

John Roberts, director of mobile operations at Integral PET Associates, said: ” Philips Remote Services for Mobiles is a valuable asset management technology that has helped our organisation better understand our system environment and helped the Philips field service team perform in a faster and more effective manner.”

He added that the firm has observed a drop in system issues and an increase in overall system performance.

In October 2007, Royal Philips Electronics announced the launch of the IntelliVue MMS X2 and IntelliVue MP2 patient monitor and multi-measurement module.
