Philips receives 37 prizes for product design at 2016 Red Dot Awards

1st April 2016

Philips has been presented with a total of 37 accolades at this year's Red Dot Awards, which are held annually to recognise prominent achievements in product design.

A total of 5,214 products from 57 countries were submitted for the awards this year, with Philips taking the top title of Best of the Best for two products: the IconiQ Special Edition Shaver and Lumify Ultra-Mobile Ultrasound Solution.

The IconiQ Special Edition Shaver is an electric three-head shaver featuring wireless charging technology, a SmartClick interface and a premium design, while Lumify represents the first ever app and subscription-based ultrasound solution for point-of-care diagnostics.

Philips earned the accolades after impressing a jury of 41 independent designers, design professors and specialised journalists, who assessed all entries according to strict criteria.

Sean Carney, chief design officer at Philips, said: "We believe in applying the power of the craft of design, whether we're reimagining the shaver or creating the world's first app-based smart device ultrasound solution."

This comes after the company received a total of 48 prizes at the recent 2016 iF Design Awards.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801815829-ADNFCR
