Philips unveils new cardiac care innovations at ESC 2011
Philips has unveiled a new range of cardiac care devices and innovations at the 2011 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress, which took place last week.
Among the innovations on display at the conference was the lightweight automated external defibrillator HeartStart FR3, the Xper Flex Cardio Physiomonitoring System for haemodynamic assessment and the 3D imaging device Philips Heart Navigator.
Other offerings included the ClearVue ultrasound solutions range and the BiPAP autoSV Advanced System One, a new product for use in the management of sleep apnoea.
These innovations form part of the manufacturer's commitment to address the human and economic costs of hospital readmissions due to cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Joris van den Hurk, general manager for the cardiology care cycle at Philips Healthcare, said: "ESC provides us with the opportunity to highlight our continued resolve to providing meaningful innovations that can help to address the significant impact CVD has across the world."
According to the company's most recent financial results, Philips saw a four percent year-on-year growth in sales in the second quarter of 2011.
