Pliva finalises Teva integration plans

10th February 2009

Pliva has finalised its restructuring plans for its integration into the Teva Group, the company announced this week.

Teva said it intends to invest “considerable resources” into Pliva’s Zagreb, Croatia production facilities, where operations will be divided into four major units – commercial, generic research and development, development of active pharmaceutical ingredients and the production of finished dosages.

It also stated that Pliva’s product portfolio will be prepared for the domestic market, which the firm said will “solidify” its position as the industry leader and help to provide savings for the healthcare system in Croatia.

The new structure, said president of the management board Matko Bolanca, “is a part of our strategy to build a stronger company that is poised to meet the challenges we are facing”.

Teva completed its acquisition of Barr – of which Pliva is a subsidiary – in December 2008.

According to an official statement at the time, the combined group will have a presence in more than 60 countries.
