Procter and Gamble adopts sustainability strategy
Procter and Gamble’s (P&G’s) sustainability commitment is strategic, it has claimed.
In 2007, the company established a number of policies with specific goals in key areas and it has now updated these.
Reducing carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, disposed waste and water use by 20 per cent is one of its revised targets. Previously the aim had been to cut these by ten per cent.
As part of the business’ Children Safe Drinking Water programme, it now aims to deliver three billion litres of clean water to 300 million youngsters, compared to the 250 million it had tried to reach before.
P&G’s board chairman and chief executive officer A G Lafley remarked the company now conducts all business based on its strategies.
“By increasing sustainability goals, we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to innovate continuously to improve results,” he commented.
This week, president of the western European division of P&G Gianni Ciserani spoke at seventh Annual European Business Summit in Brussels.
He said that the company was dedicated to providing products that deliver of value, performance and sustainability.
