Procter and Gamble announces launch of Align

28th November 2007

Procter and Gamble (P&G) has announced the launch of its probiotic supplement Align which is to be sold first in the American cities of St Louis, Cincinnati and Dallas.

Align is a daily probiotic supplement that is intended to provide relief against a range of digestive upsets including constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, urgency, gas and bloating.

The supplement contains Bifantis – a natural probiotic strain clinically proven to help restore the balance of healthy bacteria in the digestive system.

P&G highlights that data from clinical trials demonstrate the efficacy of Bifantis as a probiotic that can be helpful to the digestive system.

Kristin Harper, Align band manager, expressed her excitement that Align was now more widely available to consumers with episodic digestive upsets.

“Probiotic supplements provide a different way of addressing digestive problems by supplying a consistent level of the specific bacterial strain that has been proven to build up healthy intestinal function over time.”

Registered dietician Robin Plotkin stated that Align would allow people to strengthen their system’s natural defences against episodic digestive upsets and help them maintain a healthy digestive system.

Last month, P&G announced that its global human resources officer Richard L Antoine would be retiring after nearly 40 years with the company.
