Procter and Gamble highlights 2014 sustainability achievements
Procter and Gamble has published its 16th annual sustainability report, highlighting the progress it is making in reducing its environmental footprint and enhancing social conditions worldwide.
According to the report, the firm has already exceeded its 2020 waste reduction goal, with only 0.4 percent of input materials being disposed of as manufacturing waste to landfill across all its facilities. Its target was to reduce this to 0.5 percent by the end of the decade.
The number of Procter and Gamble global facilities delivering zero manufacturing waste to landfill has risen to 70, while the firm has also delivered its seven billionth litre of clean drinking water and provided disaster relief to millions of people around the world.
Additionally, the organisation has slashed its CO2 emissions by 14 percent, reduced the wastefulness of its packaging and launched consumer education programmes to encourage cold water washing.
Martin Riant, Procter and Gamble's executive sponsor for sustainability, said: "Our teams are driven to make a significant, positive and lasting impact on the communities we serve through our operations, product designs and innovative partnerships."
