Proctor and Gamble announces business reorganisation
Proctor & Gamble (P&G) has announced a number of realignments to its business due to take effect from the start of July this year. As a result of this restructuring, the firm will have three global business units.
These segments will be known as beauty care, global health & well being and household care, with these businesses reporting to Susan E Arnold, currently vice-chair of beauty and health, who will become president of global business units.
Robert A McDonald, currently vice-chair of global operations, has been elected to the position of chief operating officer and will oversee all business functions and be responsible for the go-to-market work by the firm.
A G Lafley, chairman and chief executive officer of P&G, said: “We are making these moves to realign our business units and top leadership structure to meet the changing needs of our larger, more diverse, faster-paced global business.”
He added that the reorganisation will help the firm better perform in-store and at-home with consumers and is an adequate response to the existing market conditions faced by the company.
In January 2007, P&G announced that it had acquired skincare firm HDS Cosmetics Labs from North Castle Partners in a transaction the firm called an “ideal opportunity” to widen its consumer base.
