Profits rise at private dental practices

24th March 2016

Average profits at private dental practices in the UK have climbed over the past 12 months, new figures have revealed.

Latest data from the National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers shows that in the year ending April 5th 2015, the average profits per principal of private practices were up from 130,613 pounds to 140,129 pounds.

However, NHS practices have fared less well. Profits at these have remained largely unchanged, climbing by just 211 pounds to 129,265 pounds over the same time period.

Ian Simpson, chartered accountant and partner for Humphrey and Co which conducted the statistical analysis, was quoted by Dentistry.co.uk as saying there has been a "sustained recovery" of profits.

The typical private practice profit exceeds NHS practice profit by approximately 10,000 pounds and this is likely to be due to private practices having greater control over their income," he remarked, adding that "costs seem to be static across all practices".ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801815365-ADNFCR
