Purina Dog Chow Brand unveils ornament

17th November 2008

Purina has introduced a ‘Marley and Me’ ornament, in celebration of the upcoming film.

The 20th Century Fox movie-themed model will be included in specially-marked bags of the company’s Dog Chow brand Dog Food and Puppy Chow this Christmas.

Brand manager for Purina Dog Chow brand dog food, Kristen Edler, said the star dog is the perfect example of a Dog Chow dog – loveable, unique and adventurous.

She added: “There’s no better way to celebrate all of the rascally dogs nationwide than to offer an ornament that pays tribute to the ultimate mischievous dog, Marley.”

The ornaments will feature Marley and Me and the words “Christmas 2008” on the bottom.

Last month, Purina Pro Plan launched Shredded Blend formula, which followed research that saw 89 per cent of dogs tested preferred Shredded Blend Natural Lamb & Rice formula to the old Natural Lamb & Rice formula.

The study also found 88 per cent favoured Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice over the original variety.

Established in Somerset in 1929 as Spillers Foods, the Purina’s brands include Go Cat, Winalot, Felix and Bakers Complete.

In 1963, the company acquired Van Camp Seafood, with 1995 seeing the acquisition of the Golden Cat Corporation – North America’s leading marketer of cat litter.
