Purina joins with cancer charity
Purina has teamed up with breast cancer charity Susan G Komen for the Cure, it has been reported.
The Purina Cat Chow brand will be available in a limited-edition pink bag throughout October to raise awareness of National Breast Cancer month in the US, according to Cat Channel.
Furthermore, the brand has donated $1 (56 pence) for everyone who took an online quiz on breast cancer – totalling $50,000 (28,000 pounds) – in addition to the $175,000 (99,500 pounds) donated by the company.
Spokesperson for Nestle Purina PetCare Kerry Lyman commented on the partnership: “It just seemed to be a good fit, a way to project our understanding that there is a link between cats and their owners’ health.”
Dr Janet Jackson, Cat Chow mentor, vice president and director of nutrition research – and cancer survivor – added that her cats offered comfort and protection during her treatment.
