Qiagen announces closure on eGene takeover

10th July 2007

Qiagen has announced the closure of its transaction to take over DNA analyser producer eGene.

Shareholders are told they may expect to be contacted within the next few weeks to receive instructions on how to exchange their shares.

The development represents the end of a transaction first made public on April 12th.

At an extraordinary general meeting which convened on July 6th, about 70 per cent of stockholders voted in favour of the deal.

Following the decision, eGene filed the necessary documentation with the secretary of state for the state of Nevada to allow the acquisition to progress.

Qiagen now predicts that future products based on eGene’s portfolio could incorporate its own research.

"Next-generation products will most likely include an expanded menu of products targeting use in research, applied testing and molecular diagnostics and may be combined with Qiagen’s QIAplex technology," the company states.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18206242-ADNFCR
