Qiagen announces Hong Kong office to open

Qiagen has revealed it is to open an office in Hong Kong.

The molecular diagnostics supplier states that it has ten years’ experience in the region and hopes to further target the developing market in the east.

Dr Frauke Ehlert, general manager of Qiagen China and Hong Kong, says: "Qiagen’s new subsidiary in Hong Kong has been established in response to the fast developing biomedical research community here.

"This underlines our commitment to Hong Kong as an important hub for life science and healthcare."

The office is also to serve as a distribution hub for products made in mainland China and shipped to other parts of the world.

Dr Ehlert adds that a team and infrastructure are now being developed in order to assist research efforts in local universities.

Qiagen recently announced the completion of its acquisition of virology and oncology diagnostics firm Digene.
