Qiagen reports growth in third quarter

15th November 2010

Qiagen has published its financial report for the third quarter of 2010, a period which saw the life sciences company experience growth in line with its guidance.

Net sales for the quarter amounted to $274.3 million (170.2 million pounds), a six percent increase compared to the same period of 2009, while nine-month sales for the year so far were up by 11 percent.

The period has been characterised by the firm's expansion initiatives in the area of molecular diagnostics, with key products such as the QIAsymphony RGQ having been launched in the last three months.

In addition, Qiagen was able to agree a new partnership with Abbott relating to automated in-vitro diagnostic solutions for the North American market.

Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "As we look to 2011 … we believe Qiagen is well-positioned to keep growing significantly faster than its markets and make further progress toward global leadership in molecular technologies."

Earlier this month, Qiagen announced the launch of a new range of standardised solutions for use in the molecular analysis of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800236036-ADNFCR
