Qiagen to supply gene analysis tools to GATC clients

Qiagen has announced the signing of a new partnership with DNA and RNA sequencing provider GATC Biotech.

Under the terms of the deal, clients of GATC will be granted access to Qiagen's Ingenuity Variant Analysis solution, which comprises tools for the analysis and interpretation of genetic data.

Drawing data from the company's industry-leading Ingenuity Knowledge Base, the bioinformatics platform enables laboratories to identify disease-causing genetic variants using sophisticated filtering tools hosted in a secure, private cloud-based environment.

GATC serves more than 10,000 clients across academia and industry, meaning the Ingenuity Variant Analysis solution stands to substantially increase its customer base.

"Offering Ingenuity Variant Analysis to GATC Biotech clients … further expands the growing global presence of our solution for analysis and interpretation of NGS data," commented Qiagen senior vice-president Dr Laura Furmanski.

Last month, Qiagen joined forces with 12 other life sciences organisations to found the Allele Freuqency Community, a project to create an extensive, high-quality and ethnically diverse database of human genomes.

For its part, the company will provide the secure bioinformatics infrastructure and software required for users of the database to gain insight from its contents.
