Quiagen acquires Corbett Life Sciences
Quigen, the sample technologies company, has acquired the life sciences development business Corbett in a multi-million pound deal.
Bosses at Quigen have suggested that the purchase of the Sydney-based company will serve to considerably enhance the range of products it delivers to markets across Europe and the world.
Among the most notable life sciences technology developments by Corbett is the rotary real-time PCR cycler system, marketed as the Rotor-Gene, which Quigen describes as having been a breakthrough for the industry.
“We expect this transaction to contribute significantly to our leading positions in molecular diagnostics, applied testing, pharmaceutical and clinical research as well as academic research,” said Peer Schatz, chief executive of Qiagen.
Employing more than 2,500 people in various parts of the world, Quiagen has created over 500 different consumable products that are used by businesses in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and molecular diagnostics industries.
