Quintiles appoints clinical and data operations head

Quintiles has announced the appointment of Steven Skolsky as the global head of its clinical and data operations division.

Mr Skolsky will be tasked with leading a 5,000-employee unit that forms the core of the company's clinical development operations, monitoring data and activity from hundreds of trials involving thousands of patients across the world.

The new business leader is a 30-year pharmaceutical industry veteran who was the former vice-chairman of the board at Basilea Pharmaceutica, while he has also served in roles at Adherex Technologies, Expis Partners and GlaxoSmithKline.

His industry knowledge and proven leadership capabilities have been cited as key advantages that he will bring to the organisation.

Mr Skolsky said: "It is an exciting time in drug development and I look forward to being a part of Quintiles as we help customers navigate the new landscape."

This comes after the firm appointed Charles Williams as worldwide controller of its finance organisation last month.
