Quintiles expands global laboratory network

28th March 2008

Quintiles Transnational has announced a new agreement for the provision of central laboratory services, further expanding its network of such sites certified by the College of American Pathologists.

Under the terms of its agreement with Medca Japan, the company will place its own staff at the laboratories situated in Saitama in the Greater Tokyo area.

These members of staff will support clinical trials conducted in Japan, with Medca offering a range of laboratory services, including tumour marker testing, drug-level assessment, endocrine testing, biochemical tests and others.

Medca reports that it receives over 30,000 specimens for examination every day, while the deal with Quintiles will facilitate the strengthening of its trial services and support the growth of its laboratory operations.

Yoh Narimatsu, president of Quintiles Transnational Japan, said: “We have established excellent systems for providing high-quality central laboratory services based on Quintiles’ global standard.”

He added that the company is committed to increasing the number of clinical trials in the country and use this strategic business alliance to offer its clients enhanced services.

In April 2007, Quintiles Transnational announced the marking of its tenth year in India with the dedication of a new central laboratory in Mumbai.
