Quintiles highlights growing importance of real-world data
Quintiles has published a new report that highlights the growing importance of real-world data in clinical development programmes.
The new document suggests that a combination of stakeholder demands, expanding data access, new data channels and innovative technologies is causing a "dramatic shift" in biopharmaceutical research methodology.
Whereas in the past the focus was placed solely on clinical outcomes, companies are now becoming more proactive about seeking out data on economic and humanistic outcomes in order to demonstrate products' practical value, according to Quintiles.
Dr Louise Parmenter, senior director of late-phase strategic planning for the pharmaceutical services provider, said such information is necessary to meet the varying demands of different stakeholders.
"Never before has the world of healthcare evidence generation been so rich and complex," she added.
Earlier this month, the company bolstered its capabilities with the appointment of Dr Oren Cohen as senior vice-president and global head of its phase I clinical research division.
