Quintiles wins awards for patient health websites

Quintiles has won a pair of Web Health Awards for the design of two of its patient health websites, which are intended to offer users information to support more educated decisions.

The pharmaceutical services provider's ClinicalResearch.com page, which offers information, data and testimonials relating to medical trials, won a Silver Web Health Award in the category for companies of 500 employees or more.

Meanwhile, MediGuard.org won a Merit Award in the same category for the quality of service it provides to users who wish to keep informed of issues relating to their medications.

David Coman, Quintiles' senior vice-president for corporate communication and patient recruitment, said: "One of the fundamental principles of today's new health landscape is the movement toward greater patient empowerment. Patients need greater access to information to affect their health outcomes."

Last month, the company announced the appointment of Vincent Aurentz as the executive vice-president of its recently-founded customer solutions business.
