R-Biopharm Rhone expands into India
R-Biopharm Rhone has expanded its global reach even further by setting up a sister company in India, which it hopes will act as a gateway to other Asian markets.
This is the latest in a string of international investments for the Glasgow-based company, which specialises in testing solutions for food and feed analysis, as well as manufacturing test kits that offer unparalleled precision and accuracy.
The firm already has a presence in several other countries, including the US, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, Argentina, Brazil and China.
R-Biopharm Rhone has been able to launch its Indian sister company through the purchase of one of its distributors in the subcontinents.
Claire Milligan, product manager at the firm and the person overseeing the project, explained that the company's kits look for mycotoxins, which can be found in a vast array of food and can be deadly to the human body.
"In Asia, a big area of interest for mycotoxin testing is in the spice industry, particularly for aflatoxin and ochratoxin. Aflatoxin, one of the most potent toxins, causes liver cancer. Ochratoxin, found in cereals, dried fruit, coffee, wine and spices, causes kidney cancer," she added.
