Ranbaxy launches new Evoxac

Ranbaxy has launched an authorised generic of Evoxac, with the new product set to be made available to the US marketplace first before being sent out worldwide.

The organisation's cevimeline hydrochloride capsules have entered the American market under and agreement with Daiichi Sankyo, with the drug being developed to treat symptoms of dry mount associated with Sjogren's syndrome – an autoimmune disorder affecting the moisture-producing glands.

Vice-president of trade sales and distribution at Ranbaxy's North American division Bill Winter said that the launch of Evoxac highlights the company's vision to bring high-quality, affordable generic prescription drugs into the healthcare system.

Via strategic licensing opportunities and its hybrid business model with Daiichi Sankyo, Ranbaxy is introducing many innovative medicines into the global marketplace and Evoxac is just the latest in a line of products.

"This authorised generic form of Evoxac is an excellent example of optimising operational synergies that exists between Ranbaxy and Daiichi Sankyo," said chief executive officer and managing director of Ranbaxy Arun Sawhney.
