Randox Laboratories launches biochip screening for growth promoters

Randox Laboratories has produced a biochip screening test to detect growth of a number of promoter drug residues.

The Growth Promoters array is able to simultaneously and quantitatively perform nine assays on a single sample.

It uses a biochip containing an array of immobilised antibodies, each specific to a different analyte, to screen for residues of Beta-Agonists, Corticosteroids, Stilbenes and Ractopamine – all of which could pose a risk to consumers if detected in meat products.

According to Randox, simple sample preparation and simultaneous testing have led to its array being able to ensure "rapid throughput with minimum effort" – performing 405 tests in less than two and a half hours.

Meanwhile, in other news from Randox, its RX Monza semi-automated clinical analyser is now available.

Described as "ideal for low-throughput testing", the RX Monza features 192 programmable tests covering a wide range of chemistries and can adapt to being used in a range of environments.
