Rayner names new chief executive officer

12th April 2012

Rayner has announced that Martin Jamieson is to become its next chief executive officer (CEO), effective from May 2012.

Mr Jamieson is the former managing director of Smiths Medical International and has a successful track record in the medical technology sector, as well as being a non-executive director of Medway Hospital Trust.

As leader of the Sussex-based organisation, the new CEO will be tasked with helping the company manage the transition as it relocates its manufacturing facility and offices from Hove to Worthing.

Rayner chairman and current CEO Donald Munro said: "Martin has an impressive record in senior management within the UK medical device industry, experience which Rayner needs now in order to capitalise on our recent successes and build a strong business for the future."

The appointment will also see Mr Munro move into a new vice-president role, focusing on developing links with the ophthalmic surgeon community and international distributors.

Rayner was responsible for the creation of the first ever intraocular lens in 1949, in partnership with British surgeon Sir Harold Ridley, the life of whom was honoured by the firm earlier this year with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801338339-ADNFCR
